EU Will Reward Abbas If He'll Just Make Believe To Negotiate

Such a deal!

King Abdullah presents Abbas with EU initiative
Jordan's King Abdullah has presented Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas with a document that includes a European initiative for resuming negotiations with Israel, the al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper reported.

The initiative calls on the Palestinians to return to the negotiating table even without a settlement freeze in exchange for an EU promise to support the Palestinian UN bid, if negotiations fail within the next year. (Elior Levi)
The EU will support Abbas at the UN if negotiations fail within the next year?

With a promise like that, just where is the motivation for Abbas to seriously negotiate with Netanyahu?

The EU would make a stronger point by acknowledging how long Netanyahu has been openly demonstrating his willingness to sit down and negotiate with Abbas, while patiently waiting for Abbas to stop stonewalling.

Instead, we have one more instance of a unilateral concession made to President-emeritus Abbas, a man whose term ended 3 years ago and lacks the power--let alone the will--to make a meaningful, binding agreement with Israel.

But that's OK: Abbas is at it again, ready to join a unity government with the Hamas terrorists.

Middle East peace in our time!
